The Fugitive (Kaçak) (translated)

Kaçak (The Fugitive) is a 1982 Turkish feature film both written and directed by Memduh Ün. The screenplay is adapted from Orhan Kemal's novel of the same name, a story that had already reached the screen twenty years earlier, in 1962, when Lütfi Ömer Akad filmed it as Üç Tekerlekli Bisiklet (The Three-Wheeled Bicycle). Kaçak is a fresh reading of that material.

Tarık Akan and Fatma Girik share the leading roles. The sizeable supporting cast billed on the poster includes Celile Toyon alongside familiar faces of the period such as Ali Tutal, Sırrı Elitaş and Coşkun Göğen.

The film holds a particular place in Turkish cinema history: it is remembered as the first Turkish film ever broadcast by the country's private television channels.
