Ahmet Kostarika — Biography

Ahmet Kostarika, born Ahmet Turgutlu to a family with roots in Kastamonu, was born in 1927 in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul. Throughout his acting career, his name appeared in film credits almost exclusively as "Ahmet Kostarika," the name by which audiences came to know him.

Active from the mid-1960s until the early 1990s, he built a long career as one of Yeşilçam cinema's most prolific supporting actors, appearing in hundreds of films and television productions. He was best remembered for small character roles such as cooks, butchers, and servants, and he occasionally appeared in productions starring Kemal Sunal.

His credits include Köroğlu (1968), Gönül Hırsızı (1971), and Yunus Emre (1986), as well as television series such as Perihan Abla and Kuruluş: Osmancık. Kostarika died in Istanbul on June 15, 1994, and decades later he is still remembered as one of the familiar faces of the Yeşilçam era.
