Real Treasure (Harbi Define) (translated)

Movie · 2010 · 1 people

Harbi Define ("Real Treasure") is a Turkish comedy-adventure film directed by Hakkı Görgülü, released in cinemas on 1 October 2010 with a running time cited as roughly 112 to 115 minutes. Görgülü co-wrote the screenplay together with lead actor Cengiz Küçükayvaz.

Set in a village near Uşak, the story centers on a dying father who reveals to his four sons a long-kept secret: decades earlier, in the 1960s, American treasure hunters passed through the village searching for relics of the ancient Croesus (Karun) treasure and made off with one of its most valuable pieces. Lured by a fortune-teller's promise of riches, the brothers head back to their home village hoping to dig up what remains buried beneath the family house, and the trip turns into a string of comic, unexpected episodes that expose them to the simplicity of rural life. The cast is led by Önder Açıkbaş, Cengiz Küçükayvaz, Kemal Kuruçay, Cüneyt Arda Pamuk, and Melih Oğuzhan; on release, the film drew below-average scores from both critics and audiences.
