Goodnight, Ladies and Gentlemen
Goodnight, Ladies and Gentlemen (Italian: Signore e signori, buonanotte) is a 1976 Italian-French satirical anthology comedy. Built from twelve episodes, each contributed by different writers and directors working under the collective banner "Cooperativa 15 Maggio", the film mocks a single imagined day of programming on an Italian public broadcaster. Commercials, investigative reports, dramas and children's shows pass by, tied together by a fictional TG3 journalist, played by Marcello Mastroianni, who interviews several of the characters. Through exaggerated and grotesque sketches, the picture takes aim at political corruption, the military, the Catholic Church and television itself. The large ensemble cast includes Vittorio Gassman, Ugo Tognazzi, Nino Manfredi, Paolo Villaggio, Senta Berger and Adolfo Celi, alongside Mastroianni and Monica Guerritore.
