Rhino Season (Gergedan Mevsimi)

Rhino Season (Persian: Fasl-e Kargadan) is a 2012 drama film written and directed by Bahman Ghobadi and produced by BKM Film. The Iranian-Turkish co-production premiered at the San Sebastián International Film Festival on 26 September 2012 before opening in Turkish cinemas that October. Shot in Iraq and Türkiye, it was the first film Ghobadi made after leaving Iran.

Drawing on real events, the story is inspired by Kurdish poet Sadegh Kamangar, who spent 27 years in prison around the time of the Iranian Revolution. Sahel and his wife Mina are both jailed; released after ten years, Mina believes her husband is dead and moves to Istanbul with their children. Freed many years later, Sahel travels to Istanbul to search for his family. The cast includes Behruz Vüsuki, Monica Bellucci, Yılmaz Erdoğan, Beren Saat, Belçim Bilgin and Caner Cindoruk.
