Gas-Oil

Movie · 1955 · 3 people

Gas-Oil is a 1955 French crime film directed by Gilles Grangier, who co-wrote the screenplay with Michel Audiard. The cast features Jean Gabin, Jeanne Moreau, Roger Hanin, and Marcel Bozzuffi, the latter making his screen debut, alongside Gaby Basset, Ginette Leclerc, Henri Crémieux and Robert Dalban. Shooting took place at the Epinay Studios in Paris as well as on various real locations, with sets created by art director Jacques Colombier. The picture belongs to a wave of films about hard-bitten truck drivers that followed the success of The Wages of Fear in 1953. It also marked the start of a long run of collaborations between Gabin and his fellow Parisian screenwriter Michel Audiard, whose sharp dialogue would accompany many of the actor's later roles.
