Alltag

Alltag is a 2003 German television film directed by Turkish-German filmmaker Neco Çelik. The film portrays life in Berlin's Kreuzberg neighborhood and holds particular significance for Turkish-German hip-hop and the hip-hop scene of the district.

Çelik, born in 1972, grew up in Kreuzberg and was directly shaped by the hip-hop and gang culture present there. Some view the film as a testament to the Americanization of cultures in Europe and a report from the "frontlines", while it also demonstrates the prevalence of hip-hop among ethnic minorities in Germany and the genre's broader popularity in the country. Some critics dubbed Neco Çelik "the next Spike Lee".
