Mahir İpek — Biography
Mahir İpek is a Turkish actor born in 1972 in Ankara, the son of folk poet Âşık İsmail İpek. He first took to the stage during his high school years through the Altındağ Municipality Theatre Courses, later working with the Anadolu Sanat Merkezi Children’s Theatre and the Gökkuşağı Players; after joining Ankara Sanat Tiyatrosu (AST) in 1991, he performed in numerous productions there through the 2018 season. He completed his acting training at Bilkent University’s Faculty of Music and Performing Arts, Department of Theatre.
Active in television and film since the early 2000s, İpek has appeared in productions including Kınalı Kar (2002), Rıza (2007), O... Çocukları (2008) and Av Mevsimi (2010), and reached wide audiences through his role as İkram in the Hükümet Kadın films and as Hayati in the sketch series BKM Güldür Güldür Show. He played the lead role of Salur Kazan in the 2017 film Dede Korkut Hikâyeleri: Salur Kazan - Zoraki Kahraman, and took on notable parts in Bir Baba Hindu (2016), Cici Babam (2018) and Okul Tıraşı (2021).
He was married to fellow performer Veda Yurtsever from 1998 to 2018.
