Korel Cezayirli — Biography

Born Vedi Korel Cezayirli on 2 April 1976 in Ankara, the actor comes from a family steeped in theatre: his grandfather Vedi Cezayirli was among the first generation of artists at the State Theatres, founded the Adana City Theatres, and established Cezayirli Film, Ankara's first film studio. As a teenager he competed in swimming, basketball and figure skating before studying modern and jazz dance; in 1996 he enrolled in the Theatre Department of Selçuk University's State Conservatory, graduating in 2000.

After graduating he joined the founding cast of the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres, where in 2005 he established a Traditional Turkish Theatre unit, and a year later co-founded the newspaper Tiyatro Gazetesi with Tolga Özeçel; he continues to work with the Eskişehir City Theatres on stage.

Cezayirli began his screen career in 2006 with the series Kod Adı Kaos, going on to appear in Köprü, Maskeli Balo, Karadağlar, Lale Devri, Düşler ve Umutlar, Günahkar, Yeter and Dayan Yüreğim. He later took roles in historical productions such as Diriliş: Ertuğrul and Alparslan: Büyük Selçuklu, most recently playing Baltaoğlu Süleyman Paşa in Mehmed: Fetihler Sultanı.
