Gülşen Bubikoğlu — Biography

Gülşen Bubikoğlu (born 5 December 1954 in Istanbul) was one of the leading actresses of Turkish cinema through the 1970s and into the early 1980s. Educated at Fatih Girls' High School and briefly active as a fashion model, she launched her film career with the lead role in Yaban in 1973. Her sister, Nilgün Bubikoğlu, was also an actress.

Paired frequently on screen with Tarık Akan in a string of romantic comedies, she became one of the best-remembered screen couples of the Yeşilçam era. Her credits include Baş Belası, Ayrı Dünyalar, Şafakta Buluşalım, Vahşi Gelin and Mücevher Hırsızları, and she took leading roles in many films directed by Türker İnanoğlu, whom she later married. She was later honored with the Golden Orange Lifetime Achievement Award.

Active on screen between 1973 and 2004, Bubikoğlu remains a recognizable figure in the Turkish press even after stepping away from acting, and her daughter, Zeynep İnanoğlu, is known as an inventor.
