Girgiriye'de Büyük Seçim (Gırgıriyede Büyük Seçim)

Gırgıriyede Büyük Seçim is a 1984 Turkish comedy film directed by Temel Gürsu from a screenplay by Erdoğan Tünaş. Set in Istanbul's Sulukule district, it stars Müjdat Gezen, Gülşen Bubikoğlu, Münir Özkul and Perran Kutman, with supporting turns from Şemsi İnkaya, Ayşen Gruda and Öztürk Serengil. The film offers a humorous look at the everyday life of a colorful neighborhood community.

The story centers on the election of a new neighborhood headman. Bekir, the former headman removed from office, and Bayram, played by Müjdat Gezen, compete as rival candidates making lavish promises to the voters. Mixed-up bags, the meddling of drug smuggler Tayfur, and the romance between Güllü and Bayram turn the contest into cheerful chaos. In the end the turmoil subsides, the election is completed, and the neighborhood returns to its festive routine.
