Jewel Thieves (Mücevher Hırsızları) (translated)
Mücevher Hırsızları (Jewel Thieves), known in Italian as Lo scoiattolo (The Squirrel), is a Turkish-Italian co-production crime film directed by Guido Zurli. Shot in Turkey in 1979, it was released there the same year and reached Italian cinemas in 1981.
The film stars Gülşen Bubikoğlu and Bulut Aras in the leading roles, supported by performers familiar from Italian cinema, including Karin Schubert, Edmund Purdom, Paolo Carlini and Giovanni Scognamillo. The production carries a particular significance: Paolo Carlini died shortly after filming wrapped on 3 November 1979, making this his final screen appearance. As a joint venture between the two countries, the picture stands as an example of the Turkish-Italian co-productions of its era.
