Ayşegül Cengiz Akman — Biography

Ayşegül Cengiz Akman was born on 10 December 1974 in Antalya. In 1999 she graduated from the medical faculty in Istanbul and became a physician, and in 2004 she became a specialist in family medicine. Throughout her medical studies she worked for six years in her university's theatre company.

Between 1995 and 1999 she took acting courses, and in 1999 she directed a children's play. From 2004 to 2006 she worked as an instructor at Şahika Tekand Studio Oyuncuları; she worked as an actress and assistant director in Şahika Tekand's 'Evridike'nin Çığlığı', and in 2008 she staged the Beckett adaptation 'Hayır Ben'.

She started on television in 2012 with Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki; she also acted in Aşkın Kanunu and Analar ve Anneler. She became known for the roles of Kara Hatice in Merhamet, Melek in Hayat Sırları, Münevver Demir in Kefaret and Sacide in Yüz Yıllık Mucize. In 2016 she appeared in the film İkimizin Yerine, and in 2025 in Halef: Köklerin Çağrısı with the role of Meryem Kordağlı.
