Yeni Hayat ("New Life") is a short-run Turkish series on Kanal D that mixes action, drama and romance. OJO Pictures is credited with the production. It premiered on 3 September 2020 and ended with its ninth episode on 29 October 2020. The launch had been postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The story is a loose adaptation of the British series Bodyguard, carrying that show's central idea to Turkey.

The hero is Adem, played by Serkan Çayoğlu. For various reasons Adem has to leave the military, begins a civilian life and takes a job as a bodyguard. A businessman with many enemies approaches him to protect his wife Yasemin. Melisa Aslı Pamuk plays Yasemin and Tayanç Ayaydın plays the businessman. As the assignment goes on, an impossible love grows between Adem and Yasemin, and that love is the series' main axis. Nilperi Şahinkaya plays Adem's wife Nevin, Nisa Sofya Aksongur plays his daughter Ece, and İpek Filiz Yazıcı is also in the cast.

Başak Soysal and Cem Özüduru directed, and the script was written by Elif Usman, Serdar Soydan and Deniz Büyükkırlı. In Brazil the series is known as Uma Vida Nova.

Through different eyes

Series Binger A series devotee tracking character arcs, cast chemistry and season pacing.

Yeni Hayat carries the core idea of Bodyguard over to Turkey and lasts just nine episodes. On paper the starting point is strong: Adem, a former soldier turned bodyguard, and the impossible love that grows between him and Yasemin, the woman he protects. The on-screen chemistry between Serkan Çayoğlu and Melisa Aslı Pamuk is worth watching. But because the show ended early, its character arcs never fully develop, and the tension between Adem's family ties and the love story has no room to deepen. It feels less like a finished story than an unfulfilled promise.

Action & Thriller Fan Puts pace, tension and set pieces first; little patience for slow drama.

A former soldier, a bodyguard job, a businessman with plenty of enemies: the setup is built for a thriller. But the real axis of the show is romance, and the action often stays in the background. Anyone who knows it is adapted from Bodyguard and expects relentless pace may be disappointed. At least the short nine-episode run doesn't drag things out; if you want action with heavy doses of drama, it's worth a look.

Yeşilçam Nostalgic A viewer raised on the classics, looking for warm storytelling and strong acting.

At the heart of Yeni Hayat is an impossible love, a theme Yeşilçam cherished too. Yet in our old films such loves were usually weighed on a moral scale. Here the romance blooms between a married man and the married woman he is hired to protect, with Adem's wife Nevin and daughter Ece also part of the story. A viewer who looks for a moral centre may find this setup a little uneasy. The actors' effort shows, but its short nine-episode life never let the series reach the depth that such emotional weight requires.
