Three Quarter Moon

Three Quarter Moon (German: Dreiviertelmond) is a 2011 German tragicomedy written and directed by Christian Zübert, based on an idea he developed together with his wife İpek and produced by die film gmbh in co-production with Bayerischer Rundfunk and arte. Elmar Wepper plays Hartmut Mackowiak, a grumpy Nuremberg taxi driver who, after a family misfortune, finds himself temporarily responsible for six-year-old Hayat, a Turkish girl left alone in the city; despite the language barrier, the curmudgeonly man gradually softens. Filming took place in autumn 2010 in Nuremberg, the Fränkische Schweiz and Istanbul, and the film premiered at Filmfest Hamburg before opening in German cinemas in October 2011. Zübert won the Bavarian Film Prize for his screenplay, while young actress Mercan Türkoğlu received a Bambi for her performance.
