Suçlu
Suçlu is a 1960 social drama directed by Atıf Yılmaz, adapted from the novel of the same name by Orhan Kemal. Young Cevdet loses his mother as a child, and his father İhsan marries the much younger Şehnaz. Resenting the boy's presence, Şehnaz pulls him out of school and puts him to work as a street vendor. When Cevdet sees his stepmother with a neighbour, Adem, fear keeps him from telling his father, while Şehnaz's constant false accusations open a rift between father and son until the boy runs away from home. The film reflects on childhood and the circumstances that push a child toward crime. Turgut Özatay is among the cast.
