Zafer Önen — Biography

Zafer Önen (1921, Çorum – 13 December 2013, Istanbul) was a Turkish stage, film and television actor who also worked extensively as a voice artist. Wikidata records only the birth year, while the Turkish Wikipedia gives 17 October 1921 as the exact date.

He became one of the durable character players of the Yeşilçam era. The Persian Wikipedia places his active years between 1942 and 2011, and his IMDb entry credits him in the sound department alongside acting. Among his screen appearances are Lafını Balla Kestim (1965), Ayrılık Şarkısı (1966, as Patron Kâmil), Mirasyediler (1975), Korkusuz Korkak (1979, as the Müdür) and Kuruntu Ailesi (1983, as the brother-in-law).

His death in Istanbul on 13 December 2013 was reported by NTV, Hürriyet, Milliyet and CNN Türk; he was buried at Zincirlikuyu Cemetery. His home province of Çorum still marks the anniversaries of his death.
