Sorry, Are You for or Against? (Pardon, Are You for or Against?) (translated)
Pardon, Are You for or Against? (Scusi, lei è favorevole o contrario?) is a 1966 Italian comedy directed by and starring Alberto Sordi, who also co-wrote the screenplay together with Sergio Amidei and Dario Argento. The cast around Sordi features several celebrated performers of the era, among them Silvana Mangano, Giulietta Masina, Anita Ekberg and Bibi Andersson.
The title points to the public debates over divorce, which was still illegal in Italy when the film came out. Playing on that topical controversy, the comedy treats the divided attitudes of Italian society toward the issue with Sordi's trademark satirical touch. It stands among the films in which Sordi acted as director, writer and leading man all at once.
