Maxime

Maxime is a 1958 French comedy-drama directed by Henri Verneuil, adapted from Henri Duvernois's novel of the same name. Verneuil worked on the screenplay together with Henri Jeanson and Albert Valentin, and the cast is led by Michèle Morgan, Charles Boyer and Arletty. The story follows an ageing, wealthy bon vivant whose carefree life of pleasure is unsettled when he becomes involved with a charming young woman. Caught between the habits of his rakish past and the realities of growing old, he is forced into a bittersweet reckoning with love and time.
