Inspector Blunder (Inspecteur la Bavure)

Inspecteur la Bavure (Inspector Blunder) is a 1980 French crime comedy written and directed by Claude Zidi. Produced by Renn Productions, it opened in France on 3 December 1980 and was a box-office hit. Running about 102 minutes, it is counted among the best-known films of the French comedian Coluche.

Coluche plays a hapless, gaffe-prone trainee police inspector. The man he is up against is public enemy number one, a gangster played by Gérard Depardieu, whose character is loosely based on the real-life gangster Jacques Mesrine. Twenty-eight years later Depardieu appeared in the biopic Mesrine, this time as the gangster's mentor. The cast also includes Dominique Lavanant, Julien Guiomar, Alain Mottet, Jean Bouchaud, Martin Lamotte, Philippe Khorsand, Dany Saval, Marthe Villalonga, Richard Anconina, Féodor Atkine, Richard Bohringer, Jean-Paul Lilienfeld and Hippolyte Girardot.

In Germany the film is known as Inspektor Loulou – Die Knallschote vom Dienst, and in Romania it was released as Polițistul ghinionist.
