Bornova Bornova

Bornova Bornova is a 2009 Turkish drama film written, produced and directed by İnan Temelkuran. Shot in İzmir and named after the city's Bornova district, it portrays a single day in the lives of three young men who grew up in the same neighborhood. At the center of the story is Hakan (Öner Erkan), a young man fresh out of military service who dreams of a modest life as a taxi driver.

The narrative also follows Salih, the feared neighborhood bully whom Hakan looks up to as an older brother, and Murat (Erkan Bektaş), a philosophy PhD who earns his living writing erotic stories. A story written about Özlem (Damla Sönmez), a high school girl Hakan secretly admires, changes the course of events. Released nationwide in Turkey on November 13, 2009, the film won five awards, including Best Film, at the 46th Antalya Golden Orange International Film Festival.
