Murat Kılıç — Biography
Murat Kılıç was born on September 7, 1971, in Amasya. While studying at the Istanbul University Faculty of Economics he also completed the Acting Department at Akademi İstanbul, and went on to perform in numerous productions with Dostlar Theatre, the Istanbul State Theatre and Tiyatro Stüdyosu. Between 2001 and 2007 he taught theatre at Koç University.
He began his television career in the series Hadi Uç Bakalım and Karım ve Annem, but gained wider recognition through a FıratPen commercial that aired in 1997. His performance in Made in Europe earned him a shared Best Actor award at the 15th Altın Koza (Golden Boll) Film Festival, and he played Police Officer İzzet in Nuri Bilge Ceylan's Bir Zamanlar Anadolu'da, winner of the Grand Prix at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival. He went on to play İhsan in the 2009 film Bornova Bornova and Kemal in the 2017 film Anons.
Kılıç also appeared in the series Keşanlı Ali Destanı and Merhamet, and in 2016 co-starred with Şebnem Bozoklu in Albüm, directed by Mehmet Can Mertoğlu, which won a directing prize at Cannes' Critics' Week and Best Film at the Sarajevo Film Festival. He appeared in the series 50m2 in 2021, and has also featured in a number of advertising campaigns.
