The Announcement (Anons)

Anons (The Announcement) is a 2018 comedy-drama directed by Mahmut Fazıl Coşkun and co-written by Coşkun with Ercan Kesal. It is a co-production between Turkey and Bulgaria.

Set over a single night in 1963, the story follows a group of soldiers who, in the wake of an attempted military coup, try to broadcast a declaration from Istanbul Radio. Their plan unravels through a string of mishaps that give the film both its tension and its dark humor. The main cast includes Ali Seçkiner Alıcı, Tarhan Karagöz, Murat Kılıç, and Şencan Güleryüz.

The film had its world premiere on 31 August 2018 at the 75th Venice International Film Festival, where it received the Special Jury Prize in the Orizzonti section.
