The Bathroom (Banyo)

The Bathroom is a 2005 Turkish comedy-drama film directed and written by Mustafa Altıoklar. The screenplay is not an original text but an adaptation of Gül Abus Semerci's stage play of the same name; the film was produced by Mehmet Altıoklar, Şahin Alparslan and Emine Altıoklar. Running about 87 minutes, it was released in cinemas in September 2005.

The film's most striking feature is its use of space: every event takes place in just three bathrooms. Two belong to neighboring apartments, while the third faces them from across the way. Within these confined settings, the intertwined stories of three couples and an art student who observes them for a project unfold. Built around male-female conflicts, betrayals and the violation of privacy through voyeurism, the film features actors such as Selçuk Yöntem, Burak Sergen and Demet Evgar.
