Sedef Avcı — Biography

Sedef Avcı was born on 22 January 1982 in Istanbul. She started ballet at the age of four and graduated from the Labour Economics Department of Kocaeli University.

She began her career as a model; in 1997 she won Elite Model Look Turkey, and in 2001 she represented Turkey at the Miss Universe pageant. She took acting lessons with the Mahşeri Cümbüş company and from İpek Bilgin.

She first appeared on screen in 1997 in the series Böyle Mi Olacaktı, but her real breakthrough came in 2007 with the role of Menekşe in Menekşe ile Halil, where she shared the lead with Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ. She consolidated her fame with the series Ezel (2009) and Yaprak Dökümü. In cinema she played the character Esra in Romantik Komedi (2010) and Romantik Komedi 2: Bekarlığa Veda (2013).

In later years she appeared in series such as Bedel, Evlat Kokusu, Payitaht Abdülhamid, Elkızı and Çöp Adam. She is married to fellow model and actor Kıvanç Kasabalı, and they have a son named Can, born in 2013.
