Kaan Çakır — Biography

Born on 1 February 1977 in the Bakırköy district of Istanbul, the second child of a family that had migrated from Komotini (Gümülcine) in Greece, Kaan Çakır discovered his interest in theatre in high school through a production of Grease, and in 1995 enrolled in the Theatre Department of Istanbul University State Conservatory. While still a student he made his television debut in 1998 in the series Kara Melek and joined the Dormen Theatre company; after graduating in 1999 he appeared in the series Bir İstanbul Masalı and in Zeki Ökten's film Güle Güle, alongside veteran actors Zeki Alasya and Yıldız Kenter.

He became widely known for playing Cahit in the 2016-2017 series Bodrum Masalı, and won the Best Supporting Actor award at the Antalya Film Festival for his role in the film Muna. In the following years he appeared in productions including Mehmed: Bir Cihan Fatihi, İstanbullu Gelin, Benim Adım Melek, Diriliş Osman, Kaderimin Oyunu, Kardeşlerim, Kudüs Fatihi Selahaddin Eyyubi and Yabani. After playing Tibet Köksal in the 2025-2026 series Güller ve Günahlar, he joined the cast of Altı Üstü İstanbul, which began airing on ATV in June 2026.
