Tolga Sarıtaş — Biography

Though his family is originally from Sivas, Tolga Sarıtaş was born and raised in Istanbul; after Halil Akkanat High School he graduated in geography from Istanbul University's Open and Distance Education Faculty, performed at the Esenyurt Municipal Theatre and Tiyatro Zeytindalı, and in his youth played drums and guitar in a band called Grup Omega. He began acting in 2009 as Berk in the film Bahtı Kara, took a series of minor roles, and drew wide attention in 2013 as Şehzade Cihangir in Muhteşem Yüzyıl; he then landed his first television lead in 2015 as Ali Mertoğlu in Güneşin Kızları and his first film lead in 2017 as Meriç Tuna in Kötü Çocuk.

His role as Yavuz Karasu in Söz brought him Best Actor at the Golden Butterfly Awards in 2017 and a Best Actor nomination at the International Emmy Awards in 2018; he later became the first Turkish actor to serve as a final-round Emmy juror, for Best Actress in 2019 and Best Actor in 2020. He went on to star in Ferhat ile Şirin, Arıza and Baba, appeared in the Netflix film Yolun Açık Olsun, and currently plays Captain Altay Yalçındağ, codenamed Kurtbey, in Teşkilat.

Sarıtaş married fashion designer Zeynep Mayruk in Çeşme on 27 June 2024, and their son, Ali, was born on 19 September 2025.
