Yılmaz Ali

Yılmaz Ali is a 1940 Turkish crime film. Its writer-director, Faruk Kenç, is regarded as one of the first filmmakers to enter cinema from outside the theater tradition, and the picture stands as his second feature. The screenplay was adapted from a work by Vâlâ Nureddin.

The story follows Yılmaz Ali, a police detective, and a young female journalist as they investigate the murder of a wealthy woman in her home. Shot over roughly three and a half months, the film opened on April 12, 1940. Notable for its lively action scenes and extensive use of outdoor locations compared with earlier Turkish productions, it also gave screen space to new faces such as Suavi Tedü and Nevzat Okçugil, alongside cast members Mümtaz Ener and Cahit Irgat.
