We All Loved Each Other So Much

C'eravamo tanto amati (We All Loved Each Other So Much) is a 1974 Italian comedy-drama directed by Ettore Scola, who co-wrote the screenplay with the writing duo Age & Scarpelli. Starring Nino Manfredi, Vittorio Gassman, Stefania Sandrelli, Stefano Satta Flores and Aldo Fabrizi, it was dedicated to director Vittorio De Sica and is regarded as one of Scola's finest works and a notable example of commedia all'italiana.

Told as a long flashback spanning three decades, the film traces the lives and disillusioned youthful hopes of three men and the woman caught between them, exploring the conflict of the postwar Italian left between ideals and adaptation to reality. It won the César Award for Best Foreign Film and the Grand Prize at the 1975 Moscow International Film Festival, and in 2008 was included in the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage's list of 100 Italian films to be saved.
