Unfair World

Unfair World (Greek: Άδικος Κόσμος, Adikos kosmos) is a 2011 Greek-German drama directed by Filippos Tsitos, who co-wrote the screenplay with Dora Masklavanou.

Set in Athens, the story follows Sotiris, a police interrogation officer who one day decides to take justice into his own hands. Determined to pardon the downtrodden, he goes so far as to kill a dishonest security guard in order to save an innocent person. The only witness to the crime is Dora, a cleaning woman, and although the two fall in love, their lives take an unexpected turn. Blending dark comedy with nods to film noir, the film reflects on love, honesty and justice.

After its world premiere at the San Sebastián International Film Festival, where Tsitos received Best Director and Antonis Kafetzopoulos Best Actor, the film was chosen as Greece's submission for the Best Foreign Language Film Oscar at the 85th Academy Awards, though it did not reach the final shortlist. It also won Best Film at the 3rd Hellenic Film Academy Awards.
