Tough Enough

Tough Enough (German title: Knallhart) is a 2006 German drama film directed by Detlev Buck and adapted from Gregor Tessnow's novel. When his mother Miriam breaks up with her wealthy partner, fifteen-year-old Michael Polischka must leave the comfortable Berlin suburb of Zehlendorf and move with her to the deprived district of Neukölln. Unable to communicate properly with his mother, he also becomes the target of a school gang led by Erol, who bully and extort him. His efforts to escape their grip only drag him further into the neighbourhood's criminal underworld. David Kross and Jenny Elvers head the cast, with Oktay Özdemir as Erol and Erhan Emre as Hamal. The screenplay is credited to Tessnow and Zoran Drvenkar.
