The Oldest Profession

The Oldest Profession (French: Le Plus Vieux Métier du monde) is a 1967 anthology comedy co-produced by France, Italy and West Germany. Six directors — Claude Autant-Lara, Philippe de Broca, Jean-Luc Godard, Mauro Bolognini, Franco Indovina and Michael Pfleghar — each contributed a segment devoted to prostitution through the ages.

Shot in the style of a "mondo" documentary, the film's six sketches trace the profession from prehistoric times all the way to what was then the future, the year 2000. Its international cast includes Jeanne Moreau, Jean-Claude Brialy, Michèle Mercier, Elsa Martinelli, Anna Karina and Raquel Welch. The film runs about 120 minutes and was made in French.
