The House on the Volcano
The House on the Volcano ("Yanardağın Üstündeki Ev" in Turkish) is a 1928 Soviet Armenian silent black-and-white drama, written and directed by Hamo Beknazaryan. Running 63 minutes, it is set in the Baku oil fields and follows workers laboring under harsh conditions.
A joint production of Armenfilm and Azerbaijanfilm, it brought Armenian and Azerbaijani filmmakers together and was shot in Russian. Hıraçya Nersesyan appears in the cast. The film stands as one of the worker-themed titles of Soviet silent cinema.
