The Ballad of Exiles Yilmaz Guney (Sürgün Türküleri: Yılmaz Güney)

The Ballad of Exiles: Yılmaz Güney is a 2016 documentary directed by İlker Savaşkurt and written by Mehmet Kala. A co-production of Turkey and the United Kingdom, the 69-minute film is spoken in Turkish, French, and English.

The film examines the final period of Yılmaz Güney's life. After escaping from prison in 1982 and fleeing to France, Güney planned his last project around recreating his prison days with fellow exiles; the documentary tells this story through interviews with witnesses such as Marin Karmitz, Patrick Blossier, and Ayşe Emel Mesçi. It screened at various festivals in 2016, including the Rotterdam International Film Festival and the National Documentary Competition of the 35th Istanbul Film Festival.
