Reporter
Reporter is a German television series produced by WDR and first broadcast on Das Erste in 1989. It comprises nine episodes of roughly 48 minutes each, directed by Klaus Emmerich and Hans Noever from scripts by Horst Vocks and Thomas Wittenburg.
Set in the newsroom of TNT, a fictional weekly news magazine, the series pairs Azade "Atze" Çelik (Renan Demirkan), a young and untested journalist, with the shrewd photographer Pit "PiWi" Wilken (Walter Kreye) as they scramble for front-page stories amid bought scoops and office intrigue. The fictional magazine alludes to the 1983 Stern scandal over the forged Hitler diaries, and the writers named the real-life Stern publisher Henri Nannen as the model for editor-in-chief Herbst, played by Dietmar Schönherr.
The supporting cast features well-known actors such as Jürgen Holtz, Heinz Hoenig, Rolf Zacher, Martin Lüttge, Tilo Prückner and Hanno Pöschl. In 1990 the first two episodes earned directors Emmerich and Noever, together with performers Kreye, Demirkan and Holtz, the Adolf Grimme Award in Silver.
