Max et les Ferrailleurs

Max et les Ferrailleurs (English: Max and the Junkmen) is a crime drama directed by Claude Sautet in 1971. A French-Italian co-production shot in French, it is based on the novel of the same name by Claude Néron. The film runs about 102 minutes. Its German release title is Das Mädchen und der Kommissar, and in Brazil it is known as Sublime Renúncia.

Michel Piccoli and Romy Schneider star, with François Périer and Georges Wilson in supporting roles. The wider cast includes Boby Lapointe, Bernard Fresson, Dominique Zardi, Betty Beckers, Albert Augier, Bernard Musson and Dany Jacquet. The screenplay is credited to Sautet, Jean-Loup Dabadie and the novelist Claude Néron.

Philippe Sarde composed the music. Raymond Danon is named as producer, and the production company was Fida Cinematografica. It counts among Sautet's early-1970s work and is one of the films in which Piccoli and Schneider appeared together.
