Lullaby to My Father

Lullaby to My Father is a 2012 documentary directed by Amos Gitai that premiered at the Venice Film Festival. It tells the story of Gitai's father, the eminent Israeli architect Munio Weinraub (1909-1970). Weinraub was a student at the Bauhaus school in Dessau when Hitler shut it down in 1933; that year he was accused of "treason against the German people", imprisoned and eventually expelled from Germany.

The film retraces Munio's journey from Poland to Germany and from Switzerland to Palestine. Gitai has described the work not as a chronological, reconstructed biography but as a mosaic, where the story assembles itself piece by piece through a poetic association of images, faces, travels, real architecture and fragments of fiction.
