Fassbinder's Women

Fassbinder's Women (German: Für mich gab's nur noch Fassbinder) is a 2000 German documentary directed by Rosa von Praunheim. The film portrays Rainer Werner Fassbinder, a defining figure of the New German Cinema, through the eyes of the women who left a mark on his life and art. Actresses who frequently collaborated with him, among them Hanna Schygulla, Irm Hermann and Jeanne Moreau, share their recollections in interviews, joined by members of his close circle such as editor Juliane Lorenz and actor Harry Baer. Their testimony illuminates Fassbinder's working methods and temperament, while also tracing how he influenced the artistic paths of the women who surrounded him. Shot in German and produced by ZDF and Arte, the documentary was presented at the Locarno Festival in 2000 and the following year at Outfest in Los Angeles.
