Joseph

Joseph is a 1995 two-part television miniseries directed by Roger Young and produced as a German, Italian and American co-production. It dramatizes the life of Joseph from the Old Testament Book of Genesis, tracing his story from birth to the arrival of his whole clan in Egypt. Favored by his father Jacob, Joseph is sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and taken to Egypt, where he serves in Potiphar's household, is thrown into prison on false charges, and eventually rises to power by interpreting the pharaoh's dreams. Written by Lionel Chetwynd and filmed in Morocco, the miniseries aired on TNT in April 1995 as part of a series of biblical adaptations. Paul Mercurio stars as Joseph, with Ben Kingsley as Potiphar, alongside Martin Landau, Lesley Ann Warren and Monica Bellucci. At the 47th Primetime Emmy Awards, it won Outstanding Miniseries from five nominations, becoming the first cable network production to take that prize.
