I due carabinieri

I due carabinieri is a 1984 Italian comedy film directed by Carlo Verdone. Written by Verdone together with Leonardo Benvenuti and Piero De Bernardi, it stars Verdone alongside Enrico Montesano, with Massimo Boldi, Paola Onofri and Guido Celano also in the cast. Running about two hours, the film is often described as a buddy comedy.

The story follows Marino and Glauco, two young men who join the Carabinieri, Italy's military police, hoping to give their lives a new direction. During training they befriend Adalberto, a wealthy young man trying to escape his overprotective family. Once assigned to real duties, the friends' reckless behavior draws them into a series of adventures; Adalberto's death in the line of duty and Marino's love for his cousin Rita strain the friendship, but the bond is restored when Glauco risks his life to save a group of kidnapped scouts. The film ranked among the top-grossing releases in Italy in its year, placing fourth at the box office.
