Don't Take God's Children for Wild Geese

Leontine (original title: Faut pas prendre les enfants du bon Dieu pour des canards sauvages) is a 1968 French crime comedy directed by Michel Audiard, marking the celebrated screenwriter's first feature film as a director. The cast is headed by Françoise Rosay, Bernard Blier and Marlène Jobert, joined by several of Audiard's favourite performers such as André Pousse, Robert Dalban and Jean Carmet. Shooting took place at the Saint-Maurice Studios as well as on location in Paris and around Menton on the French Riviera, with sets designed by Jean d'Eaubonne and Raymond Gabutti. Blending heist and crime elements with a burlesque tone and colourful, picturesque dialogue, the film displays an inventive, playful style. On its release it proved a major box-office success in France, drawing more than two million admissions and establishing itself as one of the distinctive French comedies of its period.
