Diamonds (Diamanti)
Ferzan Özpetek wrote the screenplay for Diamonds (Italian title Diamanti) with Carlotta Corradi and Elisa Casseri and directed this Italian comedy-drama of 2024 himself. It follows the solidarity and love lives of women working in a costume workshop, and in Italy it reached the top of the box office early in the year and was reported to set audience records. The film runs about 135 minutes and opened in Turkey on 10 October 2025 as Elmaslar.
The story moves between two periods, the present day and 1970s Rome. Two sisters, Alberta and Gabriella, run a glamorous fashion house in the seventies, with Oscar-winning costume designers among their clients. The women who work there are very different from one another, yet they grow close over time, and plenty of personal drama unfolds within this tight community of seamstresses. The cast includes Luisa Ranieri (Alberta), Jasmine Trinca (Gabriella), Kasia Smutniak (Sofia Volpi) and Elena Sofia Ricci (Elena), alongside Nicole Grimaudo, Vanessa Scalera, Loredana Cannata, Geppi Cucciari, Anna Ferzetti, Aurora Giovinazzo, Paola Minaccioni, Lunetta Savino and Carla Signoris.
Özpetek attended the Istanbul premiere ahead of the Turkish release, and the film reached Turkish cinemas through A90 Pictures with a 13+ rating.
