Wondrous Boccaccio

Directed by brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani, this Italian drama is loosely adapted from stories in Giovanni Boccaccio's The Decameron. As the Black Death sweeps through Florence, ten young people — seven women and three men — flee the city and take refuge in the countryside. To pass the time, each of them tells a story, and though the tales differ, they are all bound together by love and its power to help the characters face life's hardships. Shot over ten weeks in Tuscany beginning in spring 2014, the film premiered in Italy in February 2015. The ensemble cast includes Kim Rossi Stuart, Kasia Smutniak and Jasmine Trinca.
