Napoli velata (Napoli'nin Sırrı)

Directed by Ferzan Özpetek and released in 2017, the Italian thriller Napoli velata was written by Özpetek together with Gianni Romoli and Valia Santella. At its center is Adriana, a forensic pathologist in her forties working in Naples, who meets a confident younger man named Andrea at a party and spends the night with him, convinced she has found real love, only to be crushed when he fails to show up for their next meeting.

Back at work, she is assigned to examine the body of a suspected murder victim and finds herself pulled into a puzzling case, trying to work out whether it connects to that one night. Giovanna Mezzogiorno heads a cast rounded out by Alessandro Borghi, Maria Pia Calzone, Luisa Ranieri, Isabella Ferrari and Carmine Recano. The picture opened the 40th Moscow International Film Festival and later picked up two wins from a large haul of nominations at Italy's David di Donatello awards.
