Bitter Fate (Acı Kader) (translated)
Bitter Fate is a 1972 black-and-white Turkish drama film directed and written by Yücel Uçanoğlu, adapted from a work by author Sabahattin Ali. Şevki Tosunoğlu produced the film for Çınar Film and Hayat Film.
The story follows Kadir, orphaned as a child and raised by village headman Abdullah, who falls in love with Zeynep, the girl he grows up alongside. When the wealthy Yusuf Ağa demands Zeynep for his own son, the resulting conflict leads to the headman's death from a heart attack and to Kadir being falsely imprisoned; he later escapes to avenge his family and rescue Zeynep. The cast is led by İrfan Atasoy as Kadir, Fatma Belgen as Zeynep, Erol Taş as Yusuf Ağa, Nubar Terziyan as headman Abdullah, and Cavidan Dora as Zarife.
