İrfan Atasoy — Biography
İrfan Atasoy (February 3, 1937, Adana – February 3, 2022, Istanbul) was a Turkish actor, screenwriter, producer, and director active through much of the Yeşilçam era.
Before entering the film industry he worked in film exhibition in Istanbul; discovered by director Yılmaz Atadeniz, he rose to prominence starring in the 1967 film Kilink İstanbul'da. He went on to appear in action and drama films such as Belanın Kralı, Beş Hergele, Kara Cellat, Topal, and Dört Hergele, at times also writing the screenplays himself. His career continued into the 2010s, with one of his final screen credits coming in the comedy Bir Gevrek, Bir Boyoz, İki de Kumru.
Atasoy died in Istanbul on his 85th birthday, remembered as one of the enduring figures of Yeşilçam cinema.
