Tarık Şimşek — Biography
Tarık Şimşek (17 April 1945 – 19 October 1991) was one of the best-known supporting actors of Turkey's Yeşilçam cinema. Born in the eastern province of Ağrı, he entered the film industry in the early 1970s and quickly became a fixture of the era's action and adventure pictures.
Over the course of his career he appeared in close to 180 productions, most often cast as tough, menacing characters that earned him a reputation as one of Yeşilçam's memorable screen villains. His credits include İnsan Avcısı, Babanın Suçu, Korkusuz Cengaver, Çıldırtan Kadın and Kanca, with a particularly heavy workload in the second half of the 1970s.
Şimşek died in Ağrı on 19 October 1991 after a long illness and was buried in the city's cemetery.
