Birce Akalay — Biography

Birce Akalay is a Turkish actress born in Istanbul on June 19, 1984. She graduated from the Theatre Department of Haliç University Conservatory. After placing third in the Miss Turkey beauty pageant in 2004, she represented her country in the Miss Europe pageant, reaching the semi-finals; before transitioning to acting, she prepared and presented sports programs for several years.

Akalay, who started her screen career with small roles in the second half of the 2000s, made her real breakthrough with the character Havva in the series Yer Gök Aşk. Following this, she appeared in the series Ben Onu Çok Sevdim (2013) and Küçük Ağa (2014), both set during the Adnan Menderes era. In 2017, she played the doctor Aslı Çınar in Siyah Beyaz Aşk, sharing the lead role with İbrahim Çelikkol; the series reached a wide audience abroad as well.

In 2020, she took on a leading role in Star TV's Babil series, and in the same year, she portrayed the character Zilha in the stage production of Keşanlı Ali Destanı. In 2022, she reunited with İbrahim Çelikkol in the Netflix series Kuş Uçuşu, playing the role of Lale Kıran; subsequently, she appeared as Önem in Netflix's Mezarlık production. Throughout her career, Akalay has combined theater, hosting, and acting, and continues to appear on screen with new television series projects.
