Birce Akalay — Biography

Born in Istanbul on 19 June 1984, Birce Akalay trained in theatre at Pera Fine Arts High School before graduating from Haliç University's Conservatory, where she also taught for a period. She placed third in the 2004 Miss Turkey pageant and advanced to the Miss Europe final, then spent several years presenting sports programs on national television.

She started acting in small parts in 2007 and became widely known as Havva in the series Yer Gök Aşk. After roles in Ben Onu Çok Sevdim, set during the Adnan Menderes era, and Küçük Ağa, she starred opposite İbrahim Çelikkol as the doctor Aslı Çınar in Siyah Beyaz Aşk in 2017, a series that drew large audiences across both Europe and the Americas. That same year she made her stage debut in the musical Yedi Kocalı Hürmüz, directed by Müjdat Gezen.

In 2020 she led Star TV's Babil while playing Zilha on stage in Keşanlı Ali Destanı. In 2022 she reunited with Çelikkol in the Netflix series Kuş Uçuşu as Lale Kıran, and took on the role of Önem Özülkü in the series Mezarlık.
