Last Summer (Son Yaz) (translated)

Son Yaz is a Turkish drama-crime series produced by O3 Medya that premiered on January 1, 2021. The screenplay was jointly written by Deniz Dargı, Cenk Boğatur and Cem Görgeç, while directing duties were shared between more than one filmmaker.

The plot centers on a principled prosecutor, Selim Kara, who gets an offer he cannot refuse from Selçuk Taşkın, a crime boss he had sent to prison eight years earlier. Taşkın agrees to testify and bring down his own organization, but only if his son, Akgün Gökalp Taşkın, is kept safe. That deal forges an unlikely connection between the prosecutor and the reckless young man. The cast includes Alperen Duymaz, Funda Eryiğit, Hafsanur Sancaktutan, Birce Akalay and Onur Bay.

Spanning two seasons, the show shot its early episodes in the Çeşme, Karaburun and Urla districts of İzmir before moving production to Istanbul for the rest of the run. It wrapped up with an episode that aired on October 16, 2021, and picked up seven nominations at the Golden Butterfly Awards; the series was later re-edited and broadcast on a different channel in France.
