Tuba Ünsal — Biography

Tuba Ünsal was born on 7 December 1981 in Denizli to a family with a Greek-immigrant Turkish father and a mother descended from Oghuz Turks who came from Bulgaria and Kazan Tatars who came from Romania. Moving between towns as her father's job required, she attended school in Kırklareli, Şanlıurfa and İzmir, took up business studies at Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, then left that course to earn a degree in photography and video from Istanbul Bilgi University. Following the 1998 Elite Model Look contest she worked as a model, appeared in commercials, and then turned to acting; she is also a theatre and film producer.

She had already been acting as a child since 1992, took her first lead role as Bayırgülü in the series Karaoğlan in 2002, and reached a wide audience playing the title character in Vizontele Tuuba (2004). Her screen work includes the films Plajda (2008), Çılgın Dersane (2007), Dünya'nın En Güzel Kokusu (2016) and Çakallarla Dans (2010), alongside television series such as Kara Melek, Yeniden Çalıkuşu, Öyle Bir Geçer Zaman ki and İçerde.

She married Cem Cantaş in 2004 and divorced in 2006; her second marriage, to Murat Pilevneli in 2010, produced a daughter, Sare, before ending in 2012. In May 2013 she married the broadcaster Mirgün Cabas, with whom she had a son, Civan Mert, and that marriage ended in 2018 as well.
